US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken is going to visit the Middle East again next Friday. His trip is starting with a visit to Israel. The spokesperson of the US State Department confirmed this.
US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller told reporters on Tuesday, "For a meeting with members of the Israeli government, Foreign Minister Blinken is visiting Israel on Friday. He will then travel to other parts of the region.'
Earlier, Israeli media reported on Blinken's possible visit to the country's officials.
On October 7, the Palestinian independence armed organization Hamas attacked Israel. In response, Israel has been attacking the Gaza Strip since that day. After the conflict began, Blinken visited Israel to show solidarity on behalf of the United States. At that time, he visited Jordan, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Egypt from Israel. Then go back to Israel.
Blinken also accompanied US President Joe Biden on his one-day visit to Tel Aviv on October 18. During this trip, Biden met with Israeli government officials.
More than 1,400 people have been killed in Hamas attacks, according to Israeli officials. More than 230 people have been taken hostage. US citizens are among the hostages.
And according to the calculations of the Gaza Ministry of Health, more than 8,500 people have been killed in the region since October 7 due to Israel's continued attacks. There is condemnation and anger around the world.
The United States is Israel's greatest friend. The US is providing military aid to Israel.
Biden urged Congress to pass additional funding for Israel and Ukraine.
Blinken went to the US Parliament yesterday to argue for the allocation of funds. But the Senate hearings have been interrupted repeatedly by Palestinian protesters. Some of the protesters chanted slogans - 'Cease fire now', 'Palestinians are not animals', 'Damn you all'. Later the protestors were thrown out of the room.
Blinken also spoke about what might happen after the current conflict at the hearing. He thinks the Palestinian Authority should take control of the Gaza Strip from Hamas. Hamas has been in power in Gaza since 2007.
