Another Palestinian journalist was killed in an Israeli airstrike in the Gaza Strip. Another 42 of his relatives were killed in the same attack. Palestinian news agency Wafa confirmed the news.

The name of the deceased journalist is Mohammad Abu Hasira. He used to work in WAFA.

The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), a global organization that advocates for the protection of journalists' rights, said last month was the deadliest for journalists since they started recording journalist deaths. CPJ has been documenting the number of journalist deaths worldwide since 1992.

According to CPJ, at least 37 journalists have been killed since the start of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict on October 7. Among the dead were 32 Palestinians, 4 Israelis and 1 Lebanese citizen.

The CPJ said it could not be certain whether all of the victims were on duty collecting information on the conflict at the time of their deaths.

Last month, Israel told the international news agency Reuters and AFP that they could not guarantee the safety of their journalists working in the Gaza Strip.

The Israel Defense Forces said they were targeting Hamas throughout the Gaza Strip. Buildings around Hamas positions are being damaged in the attack. Israel also says Hamas is conducting military operations near positions of journalists and civilians in Gaza.

An AFP office was recently damaged in an airstrike in Gaza. AFP called on the Israeli authorities to investigate the incident last Saturday.

AFP chairperson Fabrice Fries said, "The air attack on the office of the international news agency is of great concern to all journalists working in the difficult situation in Gaza."

Last week, an Israeli airstrike killed a man named Mohammad Abu Hatab in the southern Khan Younis area of the Gaza Strip. He used to work for a news channel called Palestine TV. 11 members of his family were also killed in that attack.

On October 7, two Israeli photojournalists, Roy Idan and Yaniv Zohar, were killed when Hamas, the armed organization of the Palestinian independence movement, attacked Kibbutzes Kiffer Aza and Nahal in Israel. According to Israeli media reports, two Israeli journalists were killed in a Hamas attack on a music festival on the same day.
