Imran Khan's trial will continue in prison

The trial of former Pakistan Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan, arrested in the Saifar case, will be held in jail. Along with that, PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi will also be tried inside the jail.

The Cabinet of the Central Caretaker Government of Pakistan gave its approval on Monday. In the cabinet meeting, a summary was presented by the Ministry of Law. It is said that Imran Khan should be tried in jail for security reasons. Later it was approved.

Imran Khan was arrested on August 5. First he was kept in Pakistan's notorious Attock Jail. Later on September 26, he was transferred from there to Adiala Jail. Then Imran Khan was convicted in the Toshakhana case. Later he was also arrested in the cipher case. Qureshi is also held in the same prison.

However, Imran Khan has appealed to the Islamabad High Court objecting to the trial in jail. The court summoned arguments from the Attorney General. The inter-court appeal is scheduled to be heard tomorrow, Tuesday.

Imran Khan had to leave the post of Prime Minister after losing the no-confidence vote in the Parliament in April last year. Imran Khan's appeal against trial in jail was dismissed on October 16 by a single bench of the Islamabad High Court headed by Chief Justice Amer Farooq. Later, Imran Khan appealed against the decision of the single bench in the inter court.
