EMS said the man was in "life-threatening condition"
An adult male has been rushed to Foothills Hospital in Calgary in "life-threatening condition" after an incident at the Ship and Anchor pub, EMS has confirmed to CBC News.
A spokesperson for EMS said responders received a call at approximately 6 p.m. on Saturday for an adult male in medical distress.
EMS was unable to confirm whether the incident was connected to an eating competition that was being held at the pub.
In a statement shared to social media, Ship and Anchor said they would be closed for the rest of the evening following the incident.
"Tonight one of our customers suffered a serious medical event," read the statement.
"The incident was traumatizing for everyone involved, and as a result we have decided to shut the pub for the remainder of the evening."
According to Ship and Anchor social media accounts, the pub was hosting an Oktoberfest celebration Sept. 23.
