Non-bailable arrest warrant against Imran Khan
A non-bailable arrest warrant has been issued against former Pakistan Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan. This warrant was delivered to Imran Khan's house on Monday.
In this warrant issued in the capital Islamabad, it is said that Imran Khan has insulted the activities of the Election Commission of Pakistan. Earlier, the commission had issued a non-bailable warrant against him. But despite being summoned, he did not appear in the hearing of the commission on the scheduled time.
A photo of the arrest warrant was posted on PTI's official Twitter account last night. It said that a copy of the arrest warrant has been delivered to Imran Khan's house in Lahore. A member of his legal team accepted it.
The post also said that Imran Khan has been asked to appear at the Election Commission hearing today. He can appear before the commission.
Earlier on July 11, the Election Commission of Pakistan had issued a one-way non-bailable arrest warrant against the PTI chairman. The warrant was issued in a case filed against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja for allegedly making 'derogatory' comments.
Imran Khan was ousted last year after losing a no-confidence motion in Pakistan's parliament. Dozens of cases have since been filed against the leader of Pakistan's main opposition party. His arrest last May in a bribery case sparked violent protests across the country. Imran Khan is now on bail.
The PTI chairman said that there are a total of 180 cases against him. He is running from one court to another in such 'false' cases. He expressed surprise whether there were 180 cases against one person in 6 months in any country of the world
